24時間開館という大きな特長を持つ図書館は、キャンパスの中央部に位置している2階建ての建物である。平成17年度末現在、蔵書は約5万冊で、その80%が英文の洋書であり、和書が20%となっている。日本の大学の図書館としては、蔵書数そのものは決して多くはないが、学生規模の小さい大学として4万冊に近い洋書を揃えているというのは大学図書館の中でも特筆に値するものである。洋書は特に一般教養の面で幅広い分野をカバーし、また日本研究に関するものが充実している。また視聴覚教材としては、CD1,000枚、DVD550枚、カセットテープ450本を所有している。
図書館は開架式で、洋書は米連邦議会図書館（LC）の分類法に従い、和書は日本十進法分類法に従って分類、整理されている。貴重本や視聴覚教材は閉架式の書棚に置いてあり、職員に依頼することによりすぐに閲覧できる体制を整えている。職員は朝から深夜までカウンター窓口に待機しており、いつでも開架式、閉架式の書籍類の閲覧や貸し出しの応対ができるようにしている。

With the great merit of being open 24 hours, the library is located in a two-story building in the center of the campus. In the library, as of the end of 2005, there were approximately 50,000 volumes of which 80% are English language publications and 20% are Japanese. Compared to other Japanese university libraries, the number of volumes in itself is not particularly high but as a small-scale university with a library that boasts a range of almost 40,000 English volumes, AIU surely deserves a special mention. The English volumes cover a wide range of fields in general education and volumes concerning Japan Studies satisfy study requirements. The library also possesses numerous audio-visual materials comprising 1,000 CDs, 550 DVDs and 450 cassette tapes.
The library is open-shelved. English volumes are categorized conforming to the US Library of Congress (LC) classification system and Japanese volumes conforming to the Japan Decadal System classification system. Precious books and audio-visual materials are kept in closed shelves and the library staff is always prepared to make these available on request. Staff is always at the reference desk from morning until late at night available for assistance with borrowing or browsing of open and closed shelf materials at any time.
