ShapeTapes are robust and flexible. They are made of plastic optical fibers
mounted on spring steel substrates. The fibers are as robust during bending
as the spring steel. In their covering sheaths, the ShapeTapes are much
more sturdy than non-flexible materials, and much less likely to hurt objects
or people on impact. Where the ShapeTape is not covered with a protective
sheath(beyond the wrist clamps of arm tapes), it could be damaged by rolling
over with a chair or shutting in a drawer. The sheathed portion can withstand
most such events, but to be on the safe side, limit insults to falling
on the tape or striking an arm, leg, or torso against a hard surface with
the tape in between. Those events are well within the abilities of ShapeTape
to withstand. After all, ShapeTapes are routinely used in crash testing.
For any portion of a tape, avoid bends sharper than 25mm(1 inch) radius.
